{"id":9801,"date":"2011-07-10T13:51:49","date_gmt":"2011-07-10T22:21:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/?p=9801"},"modified":"2011-07-10T13:51:49","modified_gmt":"2011-07-10T22:21:49","slug":"july-and-a-couple-of-new-paintings-in-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/july-and-a-couple-of-new-paintings-in-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"July and a couple of new paintings in progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had heard <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Philip_Glass\" target=\"_blank\">Philip Glass&#8217;s<\/a> 1979\u00c2\u00a0<em>Mad Rush (renamed from his original Part Four, Fourth Series)<\/em> at the Woodruff Arts Center&#8217;s Sonic Palooza a couple of weeks ago and started a sketch on site that was primarily horizontal lines, in response to his elegantly patterned piano piece.<\/p>\n<p>On the day that I began the painting, I had just suffered what I discovered later was an acute vitreous detachment in one of my eyes, leaving a lot of &#8216;floaters&#8217; in my vision. Coincidentally, I was also listening to John Tavener&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/radio3\/discoveringmusic\/pip\/ek7tg\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Protecting Veil <\/a>with Yo-Yo Ma as the cello soloist.
