I made this<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/ina-garten\/strawberry-tarts-recipe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"> tart<\/a> for a party. Do not use frozen berries, but do use a food processor for the crust&#8211;it works!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/tart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-87\" title=\"Strawberries - the second year bumper crop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/tart-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>gardens alive\/early kale and mizuna is still flourishing in 90 degree heat, although the cabbage moths have found it. The radicchio and red lettuce is coming in now too;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/kale_mizuna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-188\" title=\"Kale and mizuna\" src=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/kale_mizuna.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve stopped mowing most of the backyard. The neighbors are flummoxed &#8211; they obviously haven&#8217;t read the New Yorker article\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/arts\/critics\/books\/2008\/07\/21\/080721crbo_books_kolbert\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;Turf War&#8217;<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0by Elizabeth Kolbert.<\/p>\n<p>They also missed seeing <a href=\"http:\/\/arboretum.conncoll.edu\/salt\/salt.html\" target=\"_blank\">\u00c2\u00a0SALT<\/a>, or Smaller American Lawns Today site.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wavinggrass.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-191\" title=\"The meadow\" src=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/wavinggrass.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year we had a problem with predatory wasps because E herbicided my hill where I had put down thick layers of newspapers &amp; straw in an effort to reduce erosion and water running down into the basement. Bare ground is the wasps&#8217; favorite habitat. This season he&#8217;s resisted spraying and I have some nice new ground cover. (behind the purple Echinacea)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/border.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-203\" title=\"Border\" src=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/border.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"317\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mama Bunny&#8217;s baby came out of its burrow to softly hop over and graze my ankle one morning while I was picking strawberries. No damage to the patch. They prefer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emmitsburg.net\/gardens\/articles\/frederick\/2002\/rabbits.htm\" target=\"_blank\">clover<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/mamab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-190\" title=\"Mama B\" src=\"https:\/\/www.furiousdreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/mamab.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>wish I&#8217;d planted more than just 3 peony bushes.
